Outdoor track and field begins in St. Louis

Ben Farrell starred in the team’s first outdoor meet of the year, breaking a university record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.72 seconds. Farrell, two relay squads and javelin thrower Mark Niemann brought home wins from the Washington University Invitational. Niemann won with his javelin throw of just over 173 feet. The women’s team brought home a win from Deidre Dillman, who won the 800 with a time of 2:16.02. The team will compete again this weekend at the Wartburg Select in Waverly, Iowa.
