Students met on Jan. 29 at the pool tables in Glenview to compete in the billiards tournament hosted by CPR.

In the end it was Kevin Diamond, David Brown and Brittany Clark who took first, second and third respectively. Everyone was really excited about the competition.

Diamond, sophomore mechanical engineering major, received $30 in Passport Funds for becoming champion in the competition.

“Playing pool is like being really thirsty and taking a sip of [my favorite drink] Dr. Pepper,” Diamond said.
Diamond began playing as a sophomore in high school. He would play for hours on end with a friend of his. They began by playing slop and once they became more experienced, started playing call in which the players call the pockets.

Brown, senior mechanical engineering major, received $20 in Passport Funds for receiving second in the completion. Brown has only recently begun playing the sport vigorously and loves playing every day with his friends.

Clark, senior criminal justice major, received $10 in Passport Funds for coming in third. Clark has her own pool cue and has been playing since she was sixteen. She self taught herself and loves the sport.
Pool is also fun for the spectators that come to watch.

“Pool has its moments to watch when people get angry or excited after missing or sinking that crucial shot,” Cassie Heusinkveld said. Heusinkveld was one of many spectators that turned out to support the 20 players in the competition.
