Celebrating German and French traditions

The 13th Annual Fasching/Carnaval Celebration, sponsored by the UW-Platteville French and German Clubs, will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 in Velzy Commons.

The 13th Annual Fasching/Carnaval Celebration will be held in Velzy Commons Feb. 11 from 5-9 p.m. The celebration will continue the traditional costume competition.

The celebration will have a mix of the German traditions of Fasching and the French traditions of Carnaval.
Admission is free and open to the public. The festival will consist of free snacks and beads, activities such as face painting, mask making and carnival games with prizes.

The celebration will continue its traditional costume competition, where kids and adults create costumes using masking tape and newspaper.

The night will come to a close with a limbo contest that everyone is welcome to join.

Both French and German food will be available for everyone to purchase at reasonable prices.

Donations will be accepted for the Medecins sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) organization for the relief effort in Haiti.
