Layin’ up: Pioneers serve up a victory in Thanksgiving Classic

While many people were still recovering from a full belly, the men’s basketball team hit Bo Ryan court in the Thanksgiving Classic.

The Pioneers served up a 75-58 victory in the first round against Simpson College on Nov. 28.

Senior Curt Hanson led the game with 18 points, followed by senior Mike Shaw with 13 points and junior Eric Wall with 12 points. The Pioneer bench contributed 22 points.

The Pioneers finished the tournament with a 68-61 win against Pacific Lutheran on Nov. 29.

Hanson led the Pioneers for the second day with 24 points on the board, including five three-pointers totaling a career 194.

The Pioneers improved to 4-2 following the 2-0 record from the weekend tournament.

UW-P will host UW-Superior, 2-1, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
