On Nov. 3 Jigu performed drum routines in the CFA for Asian Fall Night. Jigu means “to be or touch the drum” in Chinese.
“To beat or touch the drum” is referred to in Chinese as Jigu. On Nov. 3, Jigu came to perform at the Center for the Arts for Asian Fall Night.
Jigu performances are rooted from Chinese folk origins with modern musical elements.
“I feel the performance quality was outstanding and exactly what I expected from them,” said Pusaporn Tabrizi, an adviser of Asian Club.
Jigu has performed in many different countries across the world. They had their first North American tour in 2007, where they visited over 25 cities.
According to iaipresentations.com/jigu.php, Jigu performed and won gold medals at the National Star Awards competition in 1992, 2000 and 2001.
Before performing in Platteville, Jigu performed in Chicago.
“We had to book them a year ahead because their tour runs from coast to coast for only five weeks,” Tabrizi said.
