On the fly: Cross country, volleyball, soccer, football updates

The men’s squad finished second in the WIAC championships on Oct. 31. The Pioneers, ranked 11th, tied fifth-ranked and defending champion UW-Stevens Point with 64 points.
The women’s side finished fifth in the championships.
The Pioneers will hit the course Nov. 14 in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Lake Breeze Golf Course in a Winneconne.
Volleyball
UW-P finished third in the WIAC after the UW-Whitewater Invite on Oct. 31. The Pioneers hosted sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC Playoffs on Nov. 3. UW-P pulled off a 3-1 victory over the Pointers, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23
Women’s Soccer
The Pioneers ended their season at 8-10-2 in an overtime defeat against Dubuque. The Spartans went ahead with 1:28 left in overtime play, improving to a 13-5 season. The 3-2 loss marked the final game for seniors Sarah Gengler, Kim Schneckloth and Amber Taylor.
Football
The Pioneers lost 31-28 in overtime play to UW-RF on Oct. 31. UW-P falls to 1-4 in conference play and 3-5 overall.
