On Oct. 31 CPR hosted the Awesome’80s Party like a Rockstar Bash in Glenview Commons.

Campus Programming and Relations hosted the Awesome ’80s Party like a Rockstar Bash on Oct. 31 in the Greenwood Avenue Market at 10 p.m. The event had strobe lights, dancing and music. During their performance that started the night, Fusion X combined pieces of several of their songs into one 10-minute performance.

A costume contest was also held during the event, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place. Brandon Roberts, criminal justice major, was awarded first place and $50 of Pioneer passport funds for his costume.

The winner was an ’80s geek with suspenders, taped glasses and a button-up shirt, freshman music major Jacob Feiner said. “He really looked like a geek.”

Amanda Draheim, computer science major, dressed as a Glam Rocker and won second place and $30 in passport funds. Brittany Brown, communication technologies major, won $30 in passport funds and third place for her LL Cool J costume.

The ’80s theme was evident, and wherever you looked, there was teased hair or bright colored clothing to be found. Approximately 200 people attended the event, and more than three-fourths of them dressed the part.
“The turnout was good considering half of the campus was gone, but there was a good vibe at the dance,” sophomore, criminal justice major Christopher Collins said. “I liked the lights and it was overall pretty fun.”
