The gallery highlights more than 140 elegant designs created by local artists, including former writers, teachers and farmers. Artists that have shared their works of art in exhibits around the country have also submitted award-winning pieces.
ArtsBuild, a program of UW-P’s Office of Continuing Education, arranged the art exhibit, which opened to the public Sept. 21 and will continue to run through Saturday, Oct. 31.
A special opening for the exhibit was held on Sept. 29. Many artists that have their work on display in the gallery attended the event and had the opportunity to interact with other artists.
“We had a terrific turnout,” said Carole Spelic, ArtsBuild program coordinator. “We even had artists travel from as far away as Chicago.”
Spelic also said that it was great opportunity for students, faculty and members of the campus community to interact with the artists. The agricultural-themed show displays artwork done in a wide range of mediums.
Spelic said the media include painting, photography, weaving, ceramics, mixed materials in both sculpture and 2D, bronze, silver and wearable costumes.

“I think it’s neat and interesting to see the different views of local artists and their vision of the agriculture in the local and surrounding areas,” Gerbitz said.
Gerbitz said she thought it was great that each piece of art expressed agriculture in a romantic way.
“Not one of the pieces shows agricultural in a negative way, the work is all beautiful,” said Gerbitz.
The “Art Meets Ag” exhibit will continue to run through Saturday, Oct. 31. Scheduled gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
