Sophomore Karen Bublitz dribbled past UW-Stout Blue Devils offense on Sept. 26.

Neither team could get much going in the first half. When the whistle blew, the score was tied at zero.

Stout scored shortly after half time with a shot in the 58th minute, but the Pioneers kept it close until the end. A late goal in the 81st minutes sealed the Pioneers fate and Blue Devils left the pitch with a 2-0 win.

Junior Kaitlyn Wiedeman was in goal for the Pioneers and had two saves. Freshman Marissa Mol had four shots on goal and Senior Sarah Gengler had another three, but even with the Pioneers outshooting Stout 12-10 the Pioneers were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

The win was Stout’s first, improving their record to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

The Pioneers fell to 4-5-2 overall, and 1-2-1 in conference play.

UW-P will travel to UW-Superior Saturday for their next game against the 1-8 Yellowjackets.
