UW-Platteville men’s soccer sweeps Waldorf

The Pioneers were facing a three-game losing streak at Pioneer Stadium, but they denied a fourth loss.
Junior midfielder B.J. Gottschlich led the Pioneers with two goals against the Warriors. The first was of a center pass from senior midfielder Tyler Holle. Gottschlich’s second goal was 28 yards out off an assist from sophomore midfielder Chris Brown and senior Mario Millonzi.
Gottschlich earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offence Player of the Week Award following his contribution to the Pioneers’ shutout.
The Pioneers dominated the Warriors, allowing no comeback from the opponents. The defeat was UW-P’s first conference shutout of the season.
According to the Sports Information Web site, the Pioneers improved to a 3-3-1 overall record while the Warriors fell to 4-6.
The Pioneers will host Ripon on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
