New changes have taken place on campus for fall 2009, one of those being the menu for the Pioneer Haus.
“I am excited to try the wings in the Haus, it’s great to change the menu up for students who have been on campus for a few semesters now,” Ryan Petersen, senior building construction management major, said.
According to James Mueller, executive director of Auxiliary Services, the reason for the elimination of the pizza is a significant decline in pizza sales the past couple years.
The most recent item on the menu replacing the pizza is chicken wings. The wings come in many different flavors: barbecue, mild, garlic Parmesan, sweet and sour, medium, sweet chili sauce, hot, spicy barbecue and mango chipotle.
Mueller said “the popularity of Buffalo Wild Wings with colleg-age students,” prompted the menu change.
Although pizza was removed from the Haus, it is still available in Glenview Commons. Along with the wings, macho nachos, fries, onion rings and cheese curds will be available as side orders.
With a variety of locations in Platteville selling wings, the Haus will keep up with them by having occasional 60 cents boneless wing specials for students.
New items will be introduced in the Haus every other week, ranging from flatbreads to burgers and salads.
Mueller thinks the students will like the change to the new menu because of the excitement he has noticed.
