UW-Platteville denizens won’t have access to the only elevator in Gardner Hall following what a campus official said was a catastrophic equipment failure.

Pete Davis, interim director of facilities management, said that the elevator was shut down Aug. 31 due to an odd vibration. On Sept. 1 the elevator’s hydraulics failed, and the elevator lowered itself to the bottom floor of the building without incident, Davis said.

According to a university-wide e-mail, there is no time frame for the elevator’s repair. But Davis said that the physical plant staff is working to maintain accessibility for visitors to the building.
