This year’s distinguished lecturer was Richard Picciotto, a firefighter at the World Trade Center during the Sept. 11 attacks. Picciotto spoke about the experience of being a rescue worker during the attacks.

Picciotto was the third choice in last year’s polls, behind Hank Aaron and Deanna Favre, Toia Mannery, director of Current Issues for Campus Programming and Relations, said.

Mannery said that this year’s top two choices, Aaron and Favre, were unavailable due to scheduling conflicts and cost issues.
