This weekend the Pioneer Student Center will host an event that has brought students and alumni alike to celebrate fantasy gaming for over 20 years.
The Platteville Gaming Association will hold its 21st annual Plattecon April 3-5 in the PSC. Here people can participate in a variety of activities, including board games, role-playing games, video games and anime.

The event is broken up into session time slots throughout each of the days. Each session offers several different activities to choose from, as well as opportunities to visit the vendors Chimera Hobby and ChAdam Games, who will be there selling fantasy gaming merchandise in one of the rooms throughout the weekend.

Not only does this event bring in students who are interested in fantasy gaming, but also alumni of the school as well.

One alumnus, Thomas Knipple, has been coming back to the event for three years in a row now, running a popular game he made himself, called “Dungeon.” The game has been a favorite at the show in recent years, and is being played during every session of the convention, according to the event’s Web site, plattevillegaming.com/plattecon.

Knipple said he enjoys the event because of his camaraderie with the current members of PGA, as well as being able to stay connected with former members and alumni who come to the convention.

Knipple also had some advice for those curious about gaming, who have never played a role playing game before. Knipple said people should come to the convention and just check everything out, and if they see anything that looks interesting, they should just ask questions and get involved with the games.

The event will cost $12 for a weekend pass, $4 for Friday or Sunday, and $7 for Saturday. Anyone interested in getting more information about Plattecon, the sessions, or PGA can visit plattevillegaming.com.
