Letter To The Editor: Power Plant Tour
By Letter To The Editor • February 26, 2009 • Category: UncategorizedThe students of Fundamentals of Energy Sources 3240 would like to thank the electrical power plant crew for the gracious hospitality they showed us while giving us the grand tour of their power generating plant. We found the machinery to be exceedingly well maintained and in museum-like quality. I very much felt like I had stepped into a time warp of the 1940s and 1950s. It was as if I could’ve been in a scene straight out of the Indiana Jones World War II movie. My friends, the point is simply this: we can’t keep living off the work of our grandfathers forever! Sooner or later all of America’s antqiue power plants will be forced to yield to the newer ways of power generation. It should be obvious to even the most casual observer that we need to build some new energy efficient plants, without damaging the planet we call home! With today’s high unemployment and deflating prices on construction material, the time to build is now, and the men of 3240 are the ones who can build it! In our next letter to the editor we will discuss some of the replacement options for the old power generating plants. Stay tuned for information on “Gasification: Supporting Wind Power.” Thanks from Ray and the students of 3240.
