Sophia Carlos-Cuellar, general chemistry lecturer for the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science, is showing progress and is now in the Neurology Wing of the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
“She’s on the road to recovery,” Ramon Cuellar, Carlos-Cuellar’s husband, said.
Carlos-Cuellar is participating in conversations in her room by turning her head in the direction of the voices, according to a Feb. 23 post on Carlos-Cuellar’s UW Health Carepage by Anita Hemingway, her sister.
Cuellar wanted to thank everyone for their support and prayers.
“We have seen a lot of support from students and [the Student Organization of Latinos], as well as great support from her colleagues,” Cuellar said.
