Printz opens comedy series to a packed PSC
By Kat Connors • January 31, 2008 • Category: FeaturesOn Jan. 26, Campus Programming and Relations hosted comedian Robbie Printz to a standing room only crowd in the Pioneer Student Center.
He began his career by playing local clubs while finishing his degree and now performs at hundreds of colleges nationwide. Printz hails from Boston and made his television debut on MTV’s Half Hour Comedy Hour.
Since then he has been seen on A&E, Comedy Central’s Stand-Up, FOX’s Married With Children and NBC’s Louie Anderson Comedy Showcase.
He won the Boston Comedy Festival in 2002 and in 2003, The Improper Bostonian named Robbie Printz Boston’s best Comedy Act in their Best of Boston 2003 issue.
Printz touched on the frustrations of life such as late night infomercials, security at airports and check writers slowing everyone up in the grocery store.
“There should be snipers in the grocery store to shoot the check writers. Who uses checks anymore? Get with the technology, debit cards!” Printz said.
Printz also joked about his previous experiences driving, specifically when he accidently cut someone off.
“Ever notice there is no apology symbol in driving?” Printz asked, “There is thank you and screw you.”
He also joked about other popular issues like Catholicism, public restrooms, Walmart and the punishment of kids now versus when he was a kid. Printz had the crowd laughing throughout his entire performance.
“I was laughing the whole time. It was hard to stop,” Tom Hast, a sophomore mechanical engineering student said.
Printz wrapped up his stand-up with the differences between cats and dogs. His comparisons of a cat and dog along with his acting of a cat throwing up received roars of laughter.
“I loved the whole thing. His acting was really good,” Lisa Schumacher, from Hazel Green, said.
