Flu shots offered to all

Student Health Services office is now offering flu shots to all students as flu season begins.

In the past, getting a flu shot was somewhat difficult because of limited quantities of the vaccine and the availability was sometimes hard to come by. But this year, SHS is able to offer any and everyone a flu vaccination on campus.

“This year there will be enough for everyone, there will be no problems getting vaccinated,” Mary Jo Booth, certified medical assistant for SHS, said. She also said that students need only to make an appointment, which should last about 20 minutes, and they should be vaccinated for the entire cold and flu season.

The cost of the vaccination is $14, and all of the vaccine is supplied by an outside pharmacy.

“I would definitely get a flu shot if I knew they were available on campus here,” Josh Jankowski, a senior business construction management major, said.
The flu shot is not the only vaccination offered on campus here. Booth also said that the SHS office offers vaccinations for meningitis, hepatitis A and B, the Guardacil vaccination against HPV and also the tuberculosis skin test. They also offer a wide variety of other health-related services.

Getting a flu shot this year can save a lot of hassle because it can help students avoid getting sick this cold and flu season.

“I have never been vaccinated before, but now that the service is available and it’s cheap, I might get one this season,” Karla Rupp, a senior human resources major, said.
